Former American Idol winner and Country music star, Carrie Underwood, is engaged to Ottawa Senator Hockey player Mike Fisher.

Fisher, 29, confirmed at a press conference on Monday to the Ottawa Sun that he had asked the 26-year old country star to marry him, but would not offer any further details.

Carrie Marie Underwood is an American country singer and songwriter from Checotah, Oklahoma. She rose to fame as the winner of the fourth season of American Idol.

Underwood began to date Mike Fisher in October after meeting him at her March 2008 Ottawa concert. Just over a year later, on December 20, 2009, Underwood and Fisher became engaged, with the hockey star confirming reports at the Senators morning skate the following day. Although Underwood and Fisher are engaged, there is no set wedding date at this time.

Chelsea Clinton and her fiance, Marc Mezvinsky, sent an email to their friends and family on Friday announcing that they are engaged! The couple also mentioned in the email that they are planning to tie the knot next summer.

Clinton, who is currently attending graduate school at Columbia University’s School of Public Health, actually met and became friends with Mezvinsky when they were kids living in Washington, D.C. Both attended Stanford University, however, they didn’t start dating until 2005.

Mezvinsky is the son of the son of former Rep. Ed Mezvinsky and former Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinksy currently works with the 3G Capital Management.
The pair are no strangers to family scandals. Clinton’s most notable was her father’s affair with Monica Lewinsky. Mezvinsky’s father, former Iowa Rep. Ed Mezvinsky, was released from federal prison just this past April after serving a sentence for his role in a Nigerian fraud scheme.

The humanitarian organization from Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, has come to an idea to force young people to quit smoking and offered to pay them for their weeding expenses. On the promotional posters that are published in Riyadh is written the campaign motto “Quiting smoking is your expense and weeding is ours”.

Already standard men has shown interest for this campaign including one non-smoker who was ready to have a cigarette once more just to get the free weeding. In most of the Arab countries the groom is paying the weeding expenses. Free furniture will get 20 former smokers and the names of the winners will be announced in August 6.

Some Saudis has criticized the campaign pointing that it will decrease the value of the holy matrimony while others called it sexist. The organizer said that the goal is to create a family “without smoke”.
